FITNESS CENTRE PLANNING APPROVED
13 July 2017
Graham Owen, Club secretary is delighted to confirm that South Oxford District Council (SODC) has approved the planning application for the Fitness Centre.
Chairman of Phyllis Court Patricia Christmas, said ‘we have been anticipating this news for a while, and are very pleased that they have given an unconditional approval for us to proceed. The next steps are to finalise the finances, sign the design and build contractors and start the more visible work in the coming months. We hope to open the Fitness Centre in mid 2018. I would like to thank the team who have worked tirelessly in preparing the planning application and achieving this outcome'.
The Fitness Centre will include a 20m swimming pool, a saunarium, gym and exercise studio, with extensive changing facilities, for use by the rowing, canoe and kayak, tennis clubs at Phyllis Court.
The Planning Application was submitted on 27th February and following extensive consultation and approval from many departments in the Environmental Agency, and SODC (Conservation, Archaeological, Leisure, Drainage, Forestry, and Health and Housing Services) and the Henley Town Council, the application was thoroughly reviewed. We have some conditions that are a requirement while construction takes place and confirmation of details of how the Fitness Centre will be run in the future. All these details are as expected and were part of the original planning application. These conditions refer to traffic, noise and dust, and the landscaping in the area.
Membership of the Fitness Centre is part of Phyllis Court Membership. Membership of the Club is increasing as local residents see the development progressing, and we will move to a waiting list soon.
