The Tennis Club
Tennis for tournaments or just for fun
The Tennis Club at Phyllis Court is one of the longest standing and most active interest groups. The programme of events appeals to every standard of play, from social tennis and walking tennis to competitive team tennis in the Berkshire Leagues.
The tennis facilities at Phyllis Court Club are excellent. There are four all-weather, floodlit courts with one of the most advanced synthetic tennis surfaces on the market – Savanna.
Members meet on a regular basis throughout the year for social tournaments, events, team tennis, training sessions and coaching. The club also facilitates regular social tennis, usually on Sunday and Tuesday afternoons, all year round, as well as Wednesday evenings at 6.00pm, and Wednesday mornings for Walking Tennis.
Tournaments include:
- Mixed doubles ‘American’ (round robin) tournaments
- Annual Club Championships – ladies’ doubles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and singles – usually held during the months of April to September
- Berkshire League events – the Club enters teams in both summer and winter and runs team practice sessions on:
Saturday mornings from 10.00am - 12.00pm - Mixed practice
Monday evenings from 5.00pm - 8.00pm - Men's practice
Thursday evenings from 4.00pm - 6.00pm - Ladies' practice
The Club benefits from a resident LTA-approved coach who is available for individual or small group (doubles) coaching. There are group coaching sessions on Thursdays which are well attended, challenging and fun!
